Extension Projects
In 2019, university extension projects involving faculty and students from the program stand out :
- Professor Ana Lúcia Fonseca: as a product of the course MMO 02 – Socio-environmental Challenges, taught by the professor, registered the following projects with the Pro-Rectorate for Extension – PROEX:
a. Hands-on Gardening Project;
b. Recycling and Learning;
c. Raising awareness about the rational use of water in São João da Mata/MG.
d. Furthermore, the professor coordinates another extension project, separate from the course she teaches in the Program, which also involves master’s students:
e. Environmental assessment of rural properties located in the Pessegueiro neighborhood/Itajubá/MG and management proposals: emphasis on water quality and quantity: As part of the results of the “Águas do Pessegueiro” project.
2. Professor Benedito Claudio Silva coordinates the following extension projects:
a. Master Plan of the Municipality of Cambuí, MG;
b. Master Plan of the Municipality of Paraguaçu;
c. Sanitation Plan for Santa Rita do Sapucaí;
d. Development of the Participatory Master Plan for the municipality of Pouso Alegre, MG.
3. Professor Daniela Riondet-Costa coordinates the following extension projects:
a. LEAS Green Room – Lecture, Workshop and Banner Exhibition on Fauna and Conservation Units in Itajubá: Raising awareness among public school students;
b. Unifei Syntropic;
c. LEAS Green Room goes to school: tree planting and gardening at the Reino Encantado Municipal School – Inconfidentes/MG;
d. LEAS Green Room goes to school: environmental awareness at the Anhumas Forest Nursery, Itajubá;
e. The LEAS Green Room goes to school in Inconfidentes, MG: lectures, workshops and practical classes on mammals and Conservation Units.
The professor also maintains a Facebook page about the LEAS Green Room – Environmental Education Laboratory, where she disseminates information and studies focused on the environment, as well as the research and extension projects developed by the team (https://pt-br.facebook.com/eaitajuba).
- Professor Fernando das Graças Braga da Silva coordinates the following extension project:
a. Leakage Assessment Study at the Prof. Antônio Rodrigues de Oliveira State School, Itajubá – MG.
- Professor Luiz Felipe Silva coordinates the following extension project:
a. Master Plan and Health Promotion: Intersections and Interactions.
- Professor Maria Rita Raimundo e Almeida coordinates the following extension project:
a. Training of members of CODEMA – Itajubá Municipal Environmental Council.
It is worth highlighting that many of these projects are closely related to Basic Education, in addition to addressing topics of national importance such as the protection of biomes considered “hotspots” like the Atlantic Forest and the Cerrado.
