The Postgraduate Program in Environment and Water Resources – POSMARH has the mission of training masters and doctoral students capable of addressing, discussing, and proposing solutions for the various aspects of environmental issues and their interrelationships with economic and social aspects.

To that end, the Program’s objectives are:

1. Training and qualification of personnel:

• • Consolidation/implementation of scientific and technological research activities, resulting in publications in nationally and internationally circulated journals, as well as patent registration;
  • Consolidation of the research lines proposed in the program;
  • Presentation of research results at local, regional, national and international events;
  • Expanding the training of professionals to work in the area of ​​environment and water resources;
  • Building a critical mass to raise awareness of the importance of the rational use of natural resources.

  2. Expanding the frontiers of knowledge:

• • Establishing criteria for assessing the degradation of natural resources;
  • Studies of environmental impact indicators for the physical, biotic, and socioeconomic environments;
  • Making scientific advances available to the general community through targeted research, enabling the application of knowledge to the effective management of rural and urban communities.

  3.  Interdisciplinary approach to socio-environmental issues:

• • Discussion of multi- and interdisciplinary concepts in problem-solving or generating unknowns;
  • The practice of interdisciplinarity in the form of discussions in specific and mandatory subjects;
  • Development of interdisciplinary projects, both research and outreach, to promote the integration of faculty and students, and between them and the scientific community and society of the region.
